About Pfeiffer Auto Clinic in Winthrop Harbor
Pfeiffer Auto Clinic was founded in 1959 by Bob Pfeiffer as a family-owned repair shop in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, and was formerly known as Pfeiffer Transmission. Today it is an independent, full-service auto repair shop at 100 Sheridan Rd, with ASE-certified technicians who handle brakes, tires, check engine lights, cooling systems, suspension, maintenance, and fleet vans. It is open Mon to Fri, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Our story
Bob Pfeiffer opened the shop in 1959 with a simple idea: treat every vehicle as if it were your own. For years the shop was best known for transmission work, and many directories still list it as Pfeiffer Transmission. Today it is a full-service shop that handles tires, brakes, steering and suspension, water pumps, radiators, wheel bearings, transfer cases, emissions repair, and the rest of the work that keeps cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs on the road.
The alignment rack
In early 2023 the shop put a Hunter Hawkeye Elite alignment system into service on a Hunter heavy-duty, long-deck four-post rack rated at 18,000 lb. It takes everything from small cars to long-wheelbase vans and 4500 and 5500 series trucks, which is why fleet vans and box trucks come here for alignments. See wheel alignment.
