Waukegan is the Lake County seat and the largest city in this part of the county, with the harbor and downtown on the lake, and Grand Avenue, Belvidere Road (IL 120), Washington Street, Lewis Avenue, and Green Bay Road crossing the city. City traffic, hills down to the lakefront, and long winters all add wear.

The work you would do
At this shop, a technician from Waukegan would spend much of the week on work such as brake jobs, tire installation and repair, check engine light diagnosis, and battery replacement. Fleet vans and box trucks are part of the mix as well as everyday cars. Heavy trucks up to the 5500 series fit on the long-deck alignment rack. See auto repair for Waukegan drivers for the services those customers use.
Illinois requires emissions testing for many vehicles in the Chicago region, including Lake County, so a check engine light matters at renewal time. That makes emissions diagnosis a regular job here, from reading codes to fixing the cause before a retest.
